MOGADISHU (HALBEEG NEWS) – The federal government of Somalia has said its national forces have discovered at least 10 bodies believed to belong to fighters who were killed during Saturday’s attack at a military base at Eldheer district in Galmudug state.
The government, in a statement issued Monday stated that the forces are going on with an operation to track down remnants of the fighters in the region and that the total number of the militants killed during Saturday’s attack now stands at 60.
“The government forces are engaged in burying the bodies that were found by the national forces. The forces are continuing search operations to find more bodies of the fighters and track down those who escaped with injuries. The total number of killed fighters now stands at 60,” the statement reads in part.
It further stated that the federal government is committed to continue its war on Al-shabaab in a bid to liberate all parts of the country and restore peace and stability to the people of Somalia.
“We are calling upon all Somali youth to desist from involving themselves in activities related to the Al-Shabaab and to those already in the group to surrender to government forces before they are killed or arrested,” concludes the official government statement.
