Bula Haji (Halbeeg News) – The Somali National Army’s Danaab Commandos Saturday conducted a joint operation with the Jubbaland forces against the Al-Shabab fighters in Bula Haji are, lower Jubba Region.
The operation was conducted following intelligence information that the Al-Shabaab fighters were planning to carry out an attack against government forces, bases in the region.
The operation comes as the federal government intensifies security operations after Friday’s terrorist attack at Lido beach in Mogadishu in which over 32 civilians were killed.
Following the attack, the federal government of Somalia has conducted investigations following claims that the attackers managed to bypass security checkpoints, prompting concerns over potential lapses and the involvement of insiders.
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has underscored the need for transparency and thoroughness in addressing how the perpetrators gained access to Lido Beach and carried out their attack.
The Federal Government of Somalia has announced that several individuals, including government officials and officers, have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in or facilitation of the attack.
The announcement came from Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, who visited the injured victims and addressed the media regarding the ongoing investigation.
